Life’s Too Short to Explain Your Sparkle to Someone Wearing Shades

Life’s Too Short to Explain Your Sparkle to Someone Wearing Shades

You ever notice how some people squint when you start shining a little too bright? That’s okay, let ’em.

Marcus Aurelius said, “Waste no more time arguing about what a good person should be. Be one.”

In other words: stop explaining yourself. Just be. Do your thing. Be your weird, creative, glow-in-the-dark self and let the rest figure itself out. Because here’s the truth, you could spend forever dimming your light just to make other people comfortable, and they’d still find something to complain about. So why not blind ’em a little?

You sparkle differently. You’re wired with purpose and a bit of chaos. You laugh at odd moments. You chase ideas that make other people say, “Wait… you’re doing what now?” And that’s exactly what makes you unforgettable.

Epictetus would remind you: “It’s not what happens to you, but how you react that matters.”

So if someone laughs, react with a grin. If they doubt you, let your results answer. And if they just can’t stand your shine, hand ’em a pair of shades.

Seneca said, “The greatest obstacle to living is expectancy… while we are waiting for life, life passes by.”

Translation: stop waiting for permission. Wear the colors you love. Build the dream. Dance weirdly in public. Post the thing. Because life’s happening right now, and it’s too short to shrink for people who refuse to look up.

Let them talk. Let them roll their eyes. You’ve got roots to grow, art to make, and a light that was never meant to be dimmed.

Let them talk. Let them roll their eyes. You’ve got roots to grow, art to make, and a light that was never meant to be dimmed.

So keep shining, in all your unapologetic, unfiltered glory.

And when someone says, “You’re a little much,”

Just smile and say: “Life’s too short to explain my light to someone wearing shades.”
