This Is The Year You Try

Highway 89 after a snow.
Highway 89 after a snow.

Not “someday.” Not “when life slows down.” Now.

2026 is standing at the trailhead like a doorway of possibility, waiting for you to step through.

This is the year to take charge of your story to finally chase the ideas that have been whispering to you for years. To become the version of yourself who tries instead of waits. Who chooses curiosity over fear. Who remembers they’re allowed to be brand new at something.

Because trying is not about perfection it's about proving to yourself that your spirit is still alive and hungry for experience.

Try a new hobby. Try a new craft. Travel somewhere you’ve never been, even if it’s just a new hiking trail in your own town. Learn something that surprises you about who you are. Pick up a paintbrush, a camera, a carving tool. Sign up for a workshop and make something terrible and glorious and yours.

Bake the sourdough. Burn the sourdough. Start again.(Let your ego fall like flour dust back into the bowl.)

Do something just to prove to yourself that you can still grow new roots and reach new branches.

What are we trying this year?

Oh, you wanna know?

This year, we’re diving in headfirst:

• Milling our own flour

• Making our own pickles (hello fermentation experiments!)

• Jumping into canning like pioneers with messy hair and big dreams

• Continuing our homemade bread every week; building rhythm, confidence, and that cozy ritual that tastes like home

• Expanding our garden & growing with intention

• Learning old-world skills that feel like magic

• Experimenting with new crafts and custom art forms

• Traveling to markets we’ve never been to before

And honestly? That’s just the start. We want this year to feel like an adventure. A quest. A chapter in our story where everything begins to shift.

Because we have some big plans for 2026.

Big like… generational.

Big like roots in the ground and branches reaching for the sun.

Big like homestead chapters, creative expansion, new workshops, and projects we can’t wait to share with you.

But before we talk about the future. This year is about trying. This year is about courage. This year is about saying “I’m not done yet.” I am still growing. I am still learning. I am still becoming.

So what will you try this year?

Tell us. Inspire us. Whisper your plans into the comments like seeds you’re ready to plant.

This is your call to action. Your permission slip. Your invitation.
