Why We Bring Our Kids to Craft Fairs

"Opportunities are everywhere at a craft fair, whether it’s meeting new friends, learning something hands-on, or just soaking in the joy around them."
"Opportunities are everywhere at a craft fair, whether it’s meeting new friends, learning something hands-on, or just soaking in the joy around them."

At the heart of Eutierria Essence is our family. Our kids are our why. They’re the reason we create, grow, and keep moving forward. Everything we do is for them, and part of that includes letting them experience the world right alongside us.

Craft fairs are more than just a place to share our creations, they’re living classrooms. By bringing our kids with us, they get to see firsthand what it means to build something from the ground up. They watch us unpack our totes, set up the booth, hang the tie-dyes, and arrange the displays. They’re learning responsibility and teamwork, even in little things like helping to secure zip-ties or counting bags. For them, it’s not just “mom and dad at work,” it’s a chance to be part of something real, tangible, and meaningful.

Meeting People and Building Confidence

Every fair introduces them to new faces, new stories, and new experiences. They share bright smiles, bursts of laughter, and those little moments of joy that naturally draw people in. They’re learning to wave, say hello, and even interact with other kids who stop by the booth. Each giggle, greeting, and playful moment is its own way of connecting, and over time, these experiences are gently building their confidence in the world around them.

Learning Through Experience

"Our kids are part of every step—ordering supplies, making the art, and celebrating the joy when someone falls in love with a piece. This is more than craft—it’s a lesson in life, love, and community."

They get to experience the whole process, from ordering supplies and watching us create, to tagging along as we share our work with the world. They’ve seen the hours of effort that go into ordering materials, making the art, and preparing everything behind the scenes. And then, at the fair, they get to witness the finishing point. When a customer lights up at a suncatcher catching the sun just right, or twirls in a new tie-dye dress with pure joy, our kids see how all that hard work turns into happiness in someone else’s eyes. It’s a lesson in entrepreneurship, creativity, and community, showing them that dedication and love can grow into something truly meaningful.

Problem-Solving in Real Life

Not every fair is perfect. Sometimes it’s hot, windy, or slow, and sometimes unexpected things happen; a booth space isn’t the one we hoped for, the weather shifts suddenly, or an animal (or even a person) knocks over a display. Through it all, our kids watch how we react. They see us adjust, stay positive, and work as a team to make it through. In the process, they’re learning that challenges are part of life, and that resilience and adaptability are what carry us forward. Hard work doesn’t always look the same day to day, but it always matters.

"Fair days are long days, but they’re filled with music, laughter, kettle corn, and connection. These quiet moments at the end are just as special as the busy ones."

Making Memories Together

More than anything, the fairs give us a chance to make memories together. Each event brings its own backdrop. Sometimes it’s a wide grassy park where the kids play tag until their cheeks are red, other times it’s a busy downtown where we climb to the top of a parking garage just to look out at the city lights. We’ve wandered through farm fields, listened to music drifting from amphitheaters, and shared treats that taste different at every fair. All of these moments, big and small, become part of their story. They’re growing up with a treasure chest of experiences that show them the world is full of beauty, variety, and connection.

Embracing the Imperfections

Of course, bringing kids to craft fairs isn’t without its challenges. Things can take a little longer, they sometimes bump the table or spill a snack, and yes, there are moments when people walk away because they’re just being kids. But none of that is the end of the world. Those small hiccups are part of the journey, and the benefits far outweigh the inconveniences. The lessons they’re learning, the memories we’re making, and the joy of having them by our side are worth every extra minute or small disruption.

Closing Thoughts

At the end of the day, bringing our kids to craft fairs isn’t just about selling our work. It’s about raising them in the middle of community, creativity, and connection. They’re learning lessons in confidence, resilience, entrepreneurship, and joy that will carry them far beyond the booth. Yes, there are spills, bumps, and moments of chaos, but the memories, growth, and togetherness make it all worth it.

Craft fairs are where our family’s story is being written, one smile, one creation, and one memory at a time.

✨ So next time you see us at a fair, come say hi! Share a smile with our kids, twirl in a tie-dye, or let a suncatcher catch your eye. Together, let’s keep weaving memories and community, one handmade treasure at a time.
